Rustam Minnikhanov inspected the interior of the Spasskaya Tower of the Kazan Kremlin

The design and survey work of the Spasskaya Tower of the Kazan Kremlin was discussed today at a visiting meeting with the participation of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.

The Spasskaya Tower was erected in the XVI century by Pskov architects Ivan Shiryai and Postnik Yakovlev. The tower has been rebuilt several times, in all centuries it has been given special attention as the main Kremlin tower.

The Spasskaya Tower has always served as the main entrance to the fortress. In the XVI century, it was a two-tiered cubic building with a watchtower. The icon of the Savior Not Made with Hands was located above the travel gate, from which the name of the tower appeared. At that time, there was a moat in front of the gate of the tower, over which a wooden bridge was thrown.

In Soviet times, administrative offices were located in the tower. In 2017-2018, they began to clear the premises, dismantle the walls.

Adel Khusnutdinov, General Director of the State Unitary Enterprise Tatinvestgrazhdanproekt, reported on the progress of design and survey work at the federal cultural heritage site "Spasskaya Tower with an Annex".

The President of Tatarstan inspected the interior of the Spasskaya Tower. He was presented with technical and economic indicators, fragments of interiors.

During the inspection of the facility, Rustam Minnikhanov discussed with the designers the current state of the Spasskaya Tower, design and survey work. He instructed the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan to work out the concept of further use of the premises and the exposition inside the tower.

The visiting meeting was attended by Assistant to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Olesya Baltusova, Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Aizatullin, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan Irada Ayupova, Director General of SUE Tatinvestgrazhdanproekt Adel Khusnutdinov.
