Last week, a delegation from the Chelyabinsk region visited the Republic of Tatarstan on a working visit. The guests were acquainted with the progress of work on the reclamation of sludge fields of biological structures in Kazan.

Work on site is 66% complete. Reclamation of sludge fields is carried out within the framework of the federal project “Improvement of the Volga” of the national project “Ecology”.

Deputy Minister of Ecology of Tatarstan Egor Tarnavsky told his colleagues about the technology used in reclamation: “To solve the problem of reclamation of sludge fields, the scientific community of the republic was involved. Specialists from the Institute of Ecology and Subsoil Use of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan conducted comprehensive studies. The report formed the basis of the technical specifications for carrying out a further set of engineering surveys. Based on the results, it was determined that the recycling technology must solve five main problems - dehydration, disinfection, neutralization, processing of sludge directly at the site of its placement and neutralization of harmful odors during work.”

Let us recall that in September last year, as part of a working trip to Tatarstan, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Victoria Abramchenko visited the sludge fields and biological treatment plants of Kazan and noted that such an integrated approach and best practices in solving problems of improving water bodies need to be replicated throughout the country.
