Biological treatment facilities and sludge fields of Kazan were visited today by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Victoria Abramchenko during a working trip to Tatarstan.
Accompanied by Rais Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia got acquainted with the work being carried out at the biological treatment plant. Victoria Abramchenko was told about what work is planned in 2023.
The reconstruction is being carried out within the framework of the federal project “Improvement of the Volga”, the national project “Ecology”, as well as the regional program for the construction and reconstruction of treatment facilities.
After reconstruction, the sewage treatment system will be able to receive and treat a larger volume of sewage water. This is important for construction, city expansion, and connecting new facilities to sewerage.
As Victoria Abramchenko reported, she came to Kazan to get acquainted with the work of treatment facilities as one of the most advanced in the country. “I came to Kazan to look at best practices,” she said. – I was really pleased. You know, in our country all wastewater treatment plants are in a rather dilapidated state. The average percentage of wear is from 60 to 70. Because, as a rule, cities are powered by wastewater treatment plants that were built back in Soviet times. And we simply didn’t get around to modernizing this segment of the public utilities sector. In Kazan, wastewater treatment plants are associated with the well-being of the Volga. Therefore, the Kazan treatment and reclamation of the landfill with sludge is a project within the federal project “Improvement of the Volga”.
“Today we spoke with the head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Nurgalievich Minnikhanov. In order to replicate this best practice throughout the country, we will have to hold a series of seminars here in Kazan for representatives of government bodies and water treatment systems in the Russian Federation. This experience needs to be shown and replicated,” said the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation in conclusion.
