Ilsur Metshin visited the new building of gymnasium No. 19
On Monday, in the Volga region of Kazan, classes began in the new two-story building of gymnasium No. 19, designed for 300 students. Its construction was completed at the end of December. Prior to this, the actual number of students was more than twice the design capacity of the institution, which was originally designed for 800 students. In the school canteen there were 18 students per seat - 15 breaks were required to feed all the children.
Now, thanks to the new canteen, which operates in the format of a school restaurant, all students have time to have lunch in 4 breaks.
“I would like to congratulate the students and teachers on their housewarming. Thanks to Rais of our republic Rustam Nurgalievich Minnikhanov, who supported the construction of an additional building. Every year the gymnasium shows good results at various Olympiads, with victories at the regional, federal and even international levels. We are confident that the comfortable conditions created for study and extracurricular activities will further increase the children’s success,” said Ilsur Metshin.
The director of the gymnasium, Andrei Talmanov, told the Mayor of Kazan about how the school space had been transformed. The new building has its own creativity hall, where, for example, meetings of school activists are held. Ten years ago, it was in gymnasium No. 19 that the “Good Fairs” were born, which then grew into the large city movement “Good Kazan”. According to Andrey Talmanov, students from theater and music studios will study in the creative space.
A universal space has been designed on the second floor, which can be transformed depending on the tasks. The site can host school concerts and other public events. During recess, students can play table football and tennis, as well as air hockey. There are also two types of chess - regular and floor, a quarter of a meter high.
In the gym, children will play basketball, volleyball and mini-football. In the latter sport, the school has repeatedly won competitions: this season, eleventh-graders of the gymnasium won third place in Tatarstan. Before this, young men won gold among educational institutions in the Volga region. The gym has several exercise equipment - treadmills
The old building was completely renovated this summer. Workers replaced the roof, updated the façade, utility networks and entrance area, renovated the assembly and sports halls, and bathrooms.
“The whole school has been updated. Now students have every opportunity to not only gain knowledge, but also develop in many ways. We do everything to ensure that children grow up happy with life. Kazan holds the leadership in the construction of social facilities, and we will not deviate from this course. In the coming year we will build three more schools - in the M-14 microdistrict, the Vesna residential complex and the Rodina residential complex. The builders promise us to build them by September 1,” said the head of the city.
