In the Vakhitovsky district of Kazan, two houses of cultural heritage are being overhauled - the “Peace to Peace” house on Bolshaya Krasnaya St., 29a and the Chekist House on Karl Marx St., 23/6.
The house on Freedom Square was built in 1952 for workers of the Radiopribor plant and the 22nd aviation plant. The slogan “Peace to Peace” was returned to the roof of the building in 2013. Now in a five-story building with a total area of more than 3.2 thousand square meters there are 36 apartments.
In previous years, the house's cold and hot water supply, electricity and heat supply, and sanitation systems were repaired under the overhaul program, and landscaping of the local area was carried out regularly. This year, as part of the overhaul, the façade, roof and attic floor will be repaired.
Rustem Gafarov inspected the local area, assessed the current condition of the building’s façade and went up to the attic. As the chief specialist of the central territorial department of the GISU of the Republic of Tatarstan Linar Ganaliev said, the replacement of the roof covering was completed by 85-87%. Once the roof contour is completely completed, specialists will begin work in the attic. To prevent heat from escaping into the attic space, the staircases and the ceiling itself will be insulated. Ventilation shafts will also be lined with metal, gutters and overhangs will be installed. The work is carried out during the daytime, according to a schedule agreed with the residents of the house, emphasized the specialist from the GISU RT.
Repair and restoration work is also taking place in the nearby Chekist House, built in 1936. There are 72 apartments in the five-story building with a total area of 6.7 thousand square meters. Workers will have to update the roof, facade, utility networks and perform a number of other works. The project passed the state historical and cultural examination and was approved by the Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Objects.
